"Like an apple tree among trees of the forest, So is my beloved among the youths, I delight to sit in his shade, And his fruit is sweet to my mouth."

Apples for the Torah

Some communities are calling the Torah finials 'apples for the Torah". According to the Talmud the people of Israel are symbolized as an apple. While the Torah symbolized as a candle. This is why during Simchat Torah the small children are getting flags with pictures of the Torah and some verses and at the top of it an apple with a candle. The linkage between Israel and the Torah. This design is showing this linkage with an apple on a candle. The apple is in gold because the Torah is like that. The color of the candle is blue/green symbolizing the colors of the Temple walls at the time of Hordus according to the Talmud. Inside the apples bells are hidden to make noise while carrying the Torah.
